Dr. Vinay Kumaran
Dr. Vinay Kumaran has expertise in Hepatobiliary cancer and Hepatobiliary transplants. He leads the liver transplant surgery team in one of the most reputed hospital in Mumbai i.e Koikilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. He has more than 23 years of experience in the liver transplant, Hepato -Biliary-Pancreatic and gastrointestinal field.
Before joining KDAH, he was associated with New Delhi’s renowned hospital Sri Ram Ganga Hospital as a Director Surgical Gastroenterology and Liver Transplantation.
He earned the degree of MBBS from Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi, He practiced MS - General Surgery from the same college and finished his MCh - Surgical Gastroenterology/G.I. Surgery from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi. Later he went on to complete its fellowship from Thomas Starzl Transplantation Institute at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre.
Besides, he is also associated with several prestigious groups. Dr. Kumaran is an active member of Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology, American Society of Transplant Surgeons, Society of Organ Transplantation (ISOT), Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), Indian National Association for Study of the Liver and International Liver Transplantation Society.
Some of the services added to his list are Pancreas transplantation, Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic, Liver resection Intestinal Transplant, Pancreatic Surgery, etc.

Living Donor Liver Transplants
With successful more than 600 liver transplants, and 35 pancreases, multi-visceral and intestinal transplants Dr. Vinay Kumaran in 2010 performed the first living donor intestinal transplant in India.
He has also won the American Federation of Medical Research Travel Award
Working Experiences -
As a post of doctoral fellow, Dr. Kumaran worked on Hepatocyte Transplantation and joined the Marion Bessin Liver Research Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York.
After working on basic research for two years, he yielded publications in famous journals like Nature Medicine, Hepatology and Gastroenterology.
His main achievement is that he has published a book on techniques of liver surgery.
