Dr. Sonal Asthana is proficient in multi-organ transplant surgery, surgical oncology, pancreas, kidney and small bowel transplantation. He is well-trained transplant surgeon and has working experience in the leading centers in North America, India, and the UK.

Currently, he is working as a senior consultant with the Aster Integrated Liver Care Program at Aster Medcity, Kochi and Aster CMI Hospital, Bangalore. Dr. Asthana is well versed in solving all aspects of pancreatic surgeries, complicated biliary, liver diseases and is highly trained in whole - organ pancreas, small bowel, kidney, liver and clinical islet-cell transplantation.

Besides this, he has more than 40 publications, numerous aspects, scientific articles and various International and national meetings to his credit. In 2003, Dr. Asthana joined the hospital (St James University Hospital in Leeds) the UK. During his 4 year tenure in the UK, he got the training in multi-organ transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery.

Dr. Asthana is also expertise in surgical management of gallbladder, liver, pancreatic and biliary diseases and cancers. Being the expert in the above fields, he is also popular in clinical islet-cell transplantation. His research interests in the field include the management of Hepatitis C, transplant epidemiology, post-transplant immunosuppression and hepatocellular carcinoma.
